I am a Professor at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University in Sweden. In 2019 I started my Wallenberg Academy Fellowship. I am also a research associate with the University of Oslo.
My research deals with questions in the intersection between political institutions and political violence, including i) the causes and consequences of election violence ii) the effect of violence and threat on citizens’ political attitudes and behavior and iii) how contentious politics influence transitions to and away from democracy.
