I am a Professor at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University in Sweden. Since 2018 I am a Research fellow at The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities. In 2019 I started my Wallenberg Academy Fellowship. I am also a research associate with the Peace Research Institute Oslo and a member of the Young Academy of Sweden.
My research deals with questions in the intersection between political institutions and political violence, such as the causes and consequences of electoral violence on citizens political attitudes and behavior and how contentious politics influence transitions to and away from democracy.
